In July 2015, Vision-Aid added an exciting new program to its portfolio – a partnership with CADRE, Kanyakumari, to bring Vision-Aid training programs to visually impaired students in the southern-most tip of India. We are delighted to report that this important relationship has taken off and is reaching cruising altitude.
In July Ms .S.Jayanthi and Ms. J. Manju, teachers from CADRE visited our flagship center in Vizag where they underwent a week-long intensive training and orientation session that brought them up to speed with Vision-Aid’s training approach. Armed with the new skills, this CADRE team returned to Kanyakumari where they helped to establish a Vision-Aid Online Academy training station. Four visually impaired students have already been identified to begin the Certificate Courses in Computer Applications during the Oct-December time frame. One sighted teacher will undergo the Administrator in Computer Applicators training which will help augment the teaching staff at CADRE.
We warmly congratulate the CADRE team for their rapid progress, and also gratefully thank Vision-Aid supporters who made this important new initiative possible.
