The loss of vision affected more than just his livelihood. It also made several everyday activities challenging, increased his dependence on others, and affected his confidence and sense of independence.

Prakash was assessed at the Vision-Aid Resource Center at Sankara Nethralaya Kolkata where his functional vision needs were evaluated, and appropriate rehabilitation strategies were discussed. As part of his rehabilitation, he received Smart Vision Glasses, an assistive technology designed to support access to visual information.

With the Smart Vision Glasses, Prakash can access and identify information more independently, helping him perform tasks that previously required assistance from family members or others around him. The device is supporting him in navigating everyday situations with greater confidence and reducing his dependence on others.

For Prakash, access to assistive technology represents an important step toward greater independence, confidence, and participation in daily life despite significant vision loss.

Mr. Prakash Chauhan Says……

“I have been unemployed since last year due to my vision loss. Before that, I could see everything and I was working as an electrician in an electrical shop, where I used to prepare bills and do other work. Now, I can only listen to songs or call somebody using Google. I want to open a small grocery shop in front of my house, and these Smart Vision Glasses can help me identify the item.”
