Congratulations to Vision-Aid students who landed their dream jobs!
As we near the end of 2024 one of the brightest spots is 70 of our students who are blind or visually impaired landing their dream job in the Tech sector and other sectors. These 42 students of our Digital Accessibility Testing (DAT), Python programming), SQL/Database and Corporate Skills training program landed jobs in top companies like Amazon, Infosys, Goldman Sachs, Cognizant and many others (see list below), as Accessibility testers, software engineers and a variety of other corporate roles. Congratulations to the students and their trainers for this AMAZING accomplishment, and thanks to our supporters who enable such programs with their support.

VISION-AID PLACEMENTS PROGRAM
Over the last 3 decades, India has seen tremendous growth in employment opportunities in the IT and other sectors with many getting employed in quality jobs. Unfortunately, this tremendous growth has not benefited people with vision impairment which sees the lowest rates of hiring even among the disabilities sector. One of the key factors is lack of technology skills needed to be employed in such jobs. In 2022, Vision-Aid brought a heightened focus to advanced technical training programs and also launched a placement cell focused on job placements, and looks forward to continued success of our students in 2023 and beyond with this capability.
VISION-AID TRAINING PROGRAMS
Vision-Aid offers 12 different training programs specially designed for the visually impaired. These programs aspire for two important goals:
- Empowerment: Provide people with visual impairment the training and skills required to lead a life of independence and dignity by making them literate in Computers, Mobile Technologies, Spoken English, Braille and other enabling literacy programs.
- Employment: Provide advanced technical and corporate skills training that could help them pursue employment opportunities in India’s booming IT sector
VISION-AID ADVANCED TECHNICAL AND CORPORATE SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS
Vision-Aid offers technology and advanced training programs are primarily aimed at providing skills to individuals so that they can find employment in IT and other sectors. Here is a brief overview of our employment focussed training programs:
Digital Accessibility Testing (DAT): This program helps individuals develop skills to become an Accessibility tester or an Accessibility consultant. Students in this program are trained on the following:
- WCAG 2.1 guidelines and its use
- How to Perform Accessibility testing and document results
- Basics of HTML, CSS, Java Script
On completion of the course, students will be able to perform DAT on websites/applications, document results as well as provide recommendation for fixes.
Python Programming Language / Training on SQL: This program helps individuals develop skills to become python programmer. Students in this program are trained on the following:
- Basics of Python
- Basics of Database
- Basics of HTML, CSS, Java Script
- Basics of Web design
- Develop simple applications
- DB scripting using SQL
On completion of the course, students will be able to be able to develop simple applications using Python and SQL.
Corporate Skill Development Program: This program helps individuals develop professional and soft skills that are required to find placement as well as grow in their career. Students in this program are trained on the following:
- Learn to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional setup
- Prepare for Job interviews
- Learn to draft professional emails, resumes and cover letters

Helping even one person with visual impairment find his or her dream job is no mean task. It really does take a village! First, it needs the immense tremendous dedication and commitment on the part of the aspirant and the mentors and trainers who help them reach their full potential. It also takes a loving village of supporters who, through their support to Vision-Aid make such programs possible.
