The Vocational Training Rehabilitation Center (VTRC) in Nasik, part of the National Federation of the Blind, Maharashtra (NFBM), has been providing invaluable training to visually-challenged individuals since its establishment in 2000. This residential center houses 30 students and offers comprehensive training in computer basics and advanced IT skills, certified by the Yashwantrao Chavan Open University, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation (MKCL), and the Pune Technical Board.
In January 2023, Vision-Aid India entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with VTRC, providing substantial infrastructure and training support. Vision-Aid supplied 10 desktop computers and financial backing for programs focusing on Spoken English, Corporate Soft Skills, and Advanced Information Technology Training.
At the end of the courses, the students acquire strong skill sets, including good typing skills with speed and accuracy, proficiency in MS Office, and basic computer operations. So far, those trained at VTRC have been placed in different organizations, including Nasik Municipal offices, various banks, and government offices.
This collaboration has significantly enhanced the training quality and outcomes at VTRC, leading to remarkable achievements for its students. Six visually impaired beneficiaries have recently secured employment in reputable organizations, showcasing the center’s effectiveness in empowering its trainees:
Sumedh Wakpanjar from Amaravati district, a trained Octapad player, has joined Western Railway Group as a Group D employee.
Bhushan Kauskar from Shegaon in Buldhana district, an avid reader, has been selected as a clerk through IBPS Exams and will be joining Punjab National Bank, Nashik.
Vishwas Ilame, also from Shegaon in Buldhana District, a trained classical singer, will be joining IDBI Bank as an Executive Manager.
Yogita Sapate from Peth Surgana in Nashik district, who enjoys reading, will be joining IDBI Bank as an Executive Manager in Nashik City.
Krushna Poaul from Nashik, a cricket enthusiast, has joined IDBI Bank as a clerk in Nashik City.
Rani Waghere from Dindori, Nashik, a passionate reader, will be joining IDBI Bank as a clerk.
These placements in various banks and government offices highlight the successful integration of visually impaired individuals into the workforce, thanks to the dedicated training and support provided by VTRC Nasik and Vision-Aid. The partnership between these organizations continues to pave the way for more visually challenged individuals to achieve professional success and independence.
