A Childhood Overshadowed by Fading Vision
In the quiet village of Dhangawan in Madhya Pradesh, 11-year-old Anshu Pratap Singh lived with a challenge no child should face—his world was gradually fading from sight. While other children played freely and kept pace with their studies, Anshu struggled to recognize faces or see everyday objects around him. His father watched helplessly, deeply worried about what the future might hold for his son.
A Family Searching for Answers
With very limited financial means, specialized eye care felt out of reach. But hope arrived unexpectedly. Several villagers who had regained their vision after treatment at Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot, shared their life-changing experiences. Their stories inspired the family to seek help for Anshu. Encouraged and optimistic, they brought him to the hospital.
Diagnosis and a Critical Surgery
After a thorough examination, doctors diagnosed Anshu with a severe retinal condition in his right eye and extremely poor vision in his left. He soon underwent retinal surgery. Though the improvement was modest, it gave the family renewed hope and a belief that Anshu’s life could still change for the better.
A Transformative Visit to the Vision-Aid Resource Centre
During a follow-up session in June 2025, Anshu visited the Vision-Aid Resource Centre once again. This time, he was provided with a Dome Magnifier to help with reading and other near-vision tasks. The impact was immediate and profound. For the first time in years, Anshu could read clearly, recognize familiar faces, and complete his schoolwork without assistance.
The joy on his face said it all—he felt as though he had been given his world back.
A Child Reborn With Confidence
Though one of his eyes still has limited functional vision, Anshu’s confidence has soared. He now approaches his studies with enthusiasm, determined to keep progressing. Beyond academics, he actively participates in activities aimed at protecting the environment, eager to give back to the community that supported him.
