Empowering Vision: How Project SATHI is Transforming Lives Across India

Vision-Aid’s latest initiative delivers cutting-edge assistive technology to thousands of visually impaired individuals, unlocking new paths to education, employment, and independence.

Project SATHI – Smart Assistive Technology for Holistic Inclusion

We’re excited to share a major milestone in Vision-Aid’s journey of empowering the visually impaired—the launch of Project SATHI in early 2025. This transformative initiative marks a significant scale-up in our ongoing efforts to provide life-changing assistive technology to individuals across India, especially those unable to access such tools due to financial constraints.

While Vision-Aid has long been a pioneer in delivering assistive solutions, Project SATHI expands our reach exponentially, enabling us to serve thousands more beneficiaries through the distribution of cutting-edge technology.

Purpose and Approach

In collaboration with our dedicated partners, we meticulously identify beneficiaries, prioritizing students and job-seekers to ensure the most impactful outcomes. Each device distributed is more than a tool—it’s a gateway to education, employment, and independence.

Impact in Q1 2025: Reaching 668 Lives and Counting

In just the first quarter of 2025, Project SATHI has already impacted 668 visually impaired individuals across India, and we expect this number to grow significantly throughout the year. Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished so far:

Q1 Milestones by Device

Laptops for Learning and Career Growth

We distributed 70 laptops pre-installed with screen readers and magnification tools. These devices are empowering:

Blind students at our advanced training center in Chennai preparing for IT, BPO, and government careers.

Students from partner blind schools gaining access to digital learning platforms.

Smartphones for Daily Independence

We have procured 150 smartphones at a significantly reduced cost. Carefully selected beneficiaries will soon begin receiving these devices, which enable:

Independent communication, navigation, banking, and education.

Enhanced confidence and daily self-reliance.

Digital Magnifiers for Accessible Reading

We secured 1,000 portable digital magnifiers—at less than half the market price in India. Already, 850+ beneficiaries from our partner eye hospitals have been identified to receive these tools, which support:

Independent reading of printed text in classrooms, homes, and public spaces.

Enhanced academic performance and personal autonomy.

Tactile Braille Books for STEM Education

We delivered 309 tactile Braille book sets to students across five blind schools, featuring tactile diagrams for STEM subjects. These books:

Deepen understanding of complex subjects like mathematics and science.

Promote inclusive, engaging learning environments.

AI Smart Vision Glasses: Real-Time Assistance

In collaboration with Rotary Clubs in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, we began distributing 119 AI-powered smart vision glasses that help users:

Read text, recognize faces and objects, and navigate surroundings.

Perform daily activities with enhanced safety and independence.

Thanks to the Rotary Clubs’ 1:1 matching donations, the impact of this effort has been doubled.

Aura Vision Glasses: Augmented Reality for Low Vision

We delivered 20 pioneering Aura Vision Glasses—India’s first AR-powered smart glasses—to leading eye hospitals. These glasses offer:

Customized magnification, contrast adjustment, and color correction.

A revolutionary boost in visual functionality and quality of life for low-vision users.

Launched in 2025, these glasses are receiving rave reviews from both patients and medical professionals.

Gratitude and Invitation

Our deepest thanks go to the generous donor supporting the SATHI program. Your contributions are changing lives.

We warmly invite others to join us in giving the gift of technology. Your support is critical to help Vision-Aid continue scaling our mission—bringing dignity, independence, and opportunity to thousands of visually impaired individuals across India.
