Meet Naresh: A Journey of Triumph from Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh

Naresh, from Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh, has a story that inspires many born with complete visual impairment. He has overcome challenges and found success with determination and the right support. His journey from an inclusive school to becoming an Assistive Technology Trainer and Research Assistant at the National Center for Assistive, Health, Technologies (NCAHT) IIT Delhi, is nothing short of remarkable.

Naresh’s Early Life and Education

Naresh was born in Cuddapah, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his 10th grade at the High School for Inclusive Education, run by the RDT Rural Development Trust. This school was crucial in providing him with an inclusive learning environment. He further continued his education at Netra Vidhyalaya Hyderabad.

The Challenge of His First Smartphone

After completing his intermediate studies (12th grade), Naresh received his first smartphone. Initially, he had no idea how to use it with TalkBack, even though he had always been comfortable with computers. The transition to using a smartphone was daunting, but it was also a turning point in his journey.

Discovering Vision-Aid

While browsing the internet, Naresh discovered Vision-Aid and decided to reach out to them. He was particularly interested in their mobile technology course and decided to enroll. This decision marked the beginning of a transformative phase in his life.

Enrolling in the Mobile Technology Course

Naresh says, “Completing this course was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The training really improved how I use my smartphone, giving me a solid foundation to explore more. This skill became very useful, especially when traveling or when I couldn’t use my laptop because it’s not always easy to carry a laptop everywhere. The knowledge and skills I got from Vision-Aid trainers helped me make the most of my time.” After finishing the mobile technology course, he also completed Python training from Vision-Aid. This organization also gave him an Orbit Reader (a braille refreshable device) which helped him in his studies.

From Student to Trainer

In 2020, Naresh joined Vision-Aid as a part-time mobile technology trainer. By 2021, he was a full-time trainer, sharing his knowledge and experience with others. His journey from a student to a trainer is a testament to his growth and dedication.

Securing a Position at NCAHT IIT Delhi:

Naresh has now achieved a significant milestone by securing a position at the National Center for Assistive, Health, Technologies (NCAHT) IIT Delhi, as an Assistive Technology Trainer and Research Assistant. This achievement is not just a personal triumph but also an inspiration to many. We are extremely proud of his accomplishments and eagerly look forward to his continued success.

The Impact of Vision-Aid on His Life
