Early Life and Education
Meet Nargees Begum from Malappuram District, Kerala. Her story is one of resilience and determination. Born blind due to the intermarriage of her parents, Nargees has faced numerous challenges throughout her life. Despite these obstacles, she has never given up on her dreams.
Nargees completed her schooling at Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the Blind in Chennai in 2010. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Ethiraj College, followed by a B.Ed. She further pursued an M.A. through correspondence at Madras University, completing it in 2016.
College Years and Challenges
Her college years were particularly challenging. Without the widespread availability of smartphones, she had to rely heavily on friends for notes and recordings. Being the only visually impaired student in her undergraduate class, she often felt anxious in crowded settings and avoided large gatherings.
Discovering Vision-Aid
After completing her post-graduation, Nargees faced difficulties in finding a job. Despite her qualifications, she struggled to secure employment. However, her life took a positive turn when she discovered Vision-Aid.
Journey with Vision-Aid
Last year, Nargees completed a digital accessibility testing course with Vision-Aid. In May 2024, she also finished a course on HR recruitment facilitated by Vision-Aid.
Today, Nargees works as a customer care executive at Sarathee. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering determination and the support she received from Vision-Aid. Nargees Begum’s story is an inspiration to many, proving that with resilience and the right support, one can overcome any challenge.
Reflecting on her experience, she shares, “The placement support I received through Vision-Aid has brought me immense joy, as it was unexpected.
