Radhika Paratapure is a second-year Bachelor of Arts student at The National Federation of the Blind in Maharashtra. Her journey took a significant turn when she received a smartphone from Vision-Aid while in class 11. Since then, this phone has become her best friend and indispensable study companion.
With the help of her smartphone, Radhika prepared for her HSC Board Exams, achieving an impressive score of 65%, including 75 marks in English. Her keen interest in the English language drives her ambition to become a professor.
Despite being completely visually challenged, Radhika has maximized the potential of her smartphone. She eagerly explores new applications, learning and enhancing her language skills through tools like Fluent U and Scrabble. As her confidence grew, she began presenting in college and actively participated in various competitions, including elocution, spelling, typing, and essay contests.
One of her notable achievements was becoming the first runner-up in a national-level elocution competition organized by The National Federation of the Blind India in Delhi. This year, she has been selected to compete in the International Elocution Competition for visually challenged students, scheduled for October 2024.
Radhika’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of technology. With determination and the right tools, she has overcome challenges and reached remarkable heights, inspiring others along the way.
