Vision-Aid has partnered with Community Eye Care Foundation, (CECF) at Pune. As COVID slowly recedes, one of the first events that was organized was a large virtual session inviting all Ophthalmologists from Maharashtra to join in. The Opthamalmologists of Maharashta is a very large state-wide group with over 3,000 members. The idea was to publicize the importance of low vision and rehabilitation, an area which is generally not understood or supported well any where in India even in leading eye hospitals.
A virtual event on ‘Low Vision & rehabilitation’ as part of Continuing Medical Education (CME) by Maharashtra Ophthalmology Society & Pune Ophthalmology Society was held on on 28th January 2021. Some oknown personalities like Prof. T P Lahane Padma Shri,an eminent ophthalmologist and Director Medical Education & Research of Maharashtra, Prof. Col. Madan Deshpande , Chief Medical Director, H.V. Desai Eye Hospital, Dr. Shrikant Kelkar, Director NIO, the largest private practice in Pune, and Dr. Quresh Maskati former President of the organization and a well known eye care specialist in the region attended, amongst others.
Inauguration of the Community Eye Care Foundation’s Vision-Aid Resource Centre was also done as part of the virtual event. The center was inaugrated by all past Presidents of Maharashtra Ophthalmology Society (PP MOS) . Vision-Aid Founder and Executive Director Ramkrishna Raju spoke about the Vision-Aid Model.
