We’re excited to share that Vision-Aid’s recent research has been published in the June 2025 issue of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.
About the Study:
The study explored how Smart Vision Glasses—an affordable, Artificial intelligence-powered wearable device—can support people with severe vision impairment or blindness in their daily lives. Over 90 participants across India used the device and gave feedback on its usefulness and impact on daily activities. The study shows how assistive technology like SVG can significantly enhance independence and quality of life for people with ultra-low vision. The glasses help users read printed material, recognize people and surroundings, and navigate more safely. Participants, mostly students and young adults, reported that the device helped with tasks such as reading, recognizing faces, identifying surroundings, and navigating. This study demonstrates how feedback on user experience can enhance and integrate the future updates of the device.
The study discusses the importance of cost-effective solutions of assistive technology that are easy to use and relevant to real-world needs.
