Vision-Aid students making waves

Months and months of hard work by Vision-Aid’s students and their dedicated mentors are paying off. 

  1. Four of Vision-Aid’s visually impaired students have successfully cleared the Indian Banking Exam Prelims with flying colors. Two of these students are part of the Palakurthi Center at LVPEI. The other two are from the Maskati Scholarship program.
  2. Two students from the Vision-Aid Corporate Skills Development Program have secured jobs in leading private sector companies with competitive salaries.

Success at India Banking Exam Prelims 

After completing a 6-month intense Vision-Aid Job Coaching Program prepares students for banking exams, four students cleared the prelims. The Preliminary exams consists of 2 subjects, reasoning and numerical ability. The total score is 80 and the cut-off this year was at 43.5 for people with visual impairment. They are now eligible to take up the main exams and are in the path of securing a job in one of the public sector banks. Here is a brief profile of the successful students. 

Sai Lakshmi – Sai is doing her final year M.A (Economics). She suffers from complete visual impairment and comes from an low  economic background. Her father passed away and her mother is a cook and she is the only earning member of the family. Sai Lakshmi is part of Vision-Aidscurrent batch of IBPS Training program. She is part of our joint training program with LVPEI under the Palakurthi Foundation grant.

Monika – Monika has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a MBA in Human Resources. She has been working as a teacher for the past 4 years . She has low vision and comes from economically weak background. Her father works as a cab driver and her mother is a homemaker. Monika is part of Vision-Aids current batch of IBPS Training program. She scored 63.75 out of 80. She is part of the joint training program with LVPEI under the Palakurthi Foundation grant.

Ananth Kumar – Ananth completed his B.com and currently looking for a job. He suffers from total visual impairment and has struggled financially. His parents are farmers. Ananth attended the second batch of Vision-Aids IBPS training program and was part of a refresher course that was conducted recently. He is part of the joint training program with LVPEI under the Maskati scholarship grant.

Chiranjeevi – He has a Bachelor’s degree in History, Economics and Politics. His father is a farmer and mother a homemaker. He is suffer from complete vision losst. Chiranjeevi attended Vision-Aid’s second batch of IBPS training program and was part of a refresher course conducted recently. He scored 75.25 out of 80. He participated in the joint training program with LVPEI under the Maskati scholarship grant.

Vision-Aid is already working on a a special crash course for these 4 students and help them clear the main exams.

CSDP students shining

Two more success stories from Vision-Aids Corporate Skill Development Program (CSDP). They are from the second batch of the program. These students have secured job offers from top companies in India. Here is a brief summary about them:

Muskan: Muskan, who has acute low vision, is currently doing her final year B.Tech at an VNIT (previously known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering). She has secured a job with Citi bank, Pune as a Technology Analyst. Her father is a Business man and mother is a home maker.  

Muskan has been attending different training programs with Vision-Aid since Dec 2019. She is in the current batch of Corporate Skill Development Program. Earlier she underwent Python training with us under the guidance of Vision-Aid’s dedicated volunteers in the Python team.

Aditya: Aditya recently joined as a Digital Marketing Trainer at Institute of Digital Marketing(IDM), Pune. He graduated with a B.Tech from K J Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai. His visual impairment level is 90%. His father works as a senior manager in Deloitte, USA and mother is a homemaker. Aditya is part of the current batch of Corporate Skill Development Program. He joined this program to develop soft skills to secure a job.
